example of a 6 - session program:

1st session: Problem Selection

Although the client may discuss a variety of issues during the assessment, the clinician must determine the most significant problems on which to focus the treatment process.

2nd session: Problem Definition

Each child presents with unique nuances as to how a problem behaviorally reveals itself in his or her life. Therefore, each problem that is selected for treatment focus requires a specific definition about how it is evidenced in the particular client.

3rd session: Goal Development

The next step in developing your child’s treatment plan is to set broad goals for the resolution of the target problem. It involves creating clear targets that address the child's emotional, behavioral, social, or developmental challenges.

4th session: Objective Construction

Setting clear, measurable, and achievable therapeutic goals and objectives for the child or receiving therapy. These objectives are essential in guiding the therapy sessions and assessing progress over time.

5th session: Intervention Creation

Interventions are the actions of the clinician designed to help the client complete the objectives. There should be at least one intervention for every objective.

6th session: Diagnosis Determination

The determination of an appropriate diagnosis is based on an evaluation of the client’s complete clinical presentation based on the behavioral, cognitive, emotional, and interpersonal symptoms the child presents.

Together we can build healthier behaviors, coping mechanisms, and create a safe space for our children to flourish into their best selves!

What is Child Psychotherapy?

Child psychotherapy is a specialized form of therapy designed to help children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral, social, and mental health challenges. It involves a trained therapist working with the child in a structured and supportive environment to address specific issues and promote overall well-being.

What are the goals of this program?

Over the course of 6 sessions with the client, the licensed clinician will use a tailored approach to identify, define, and develop a strategy to help your child work through the challenges they face. Some key aspects of this program include: promotion of emotional regulation, collaboration with caregivers, addressing specific issues (such as ADHD, anxiety, trauma, etc.), building resilience, and supporting development.

The clinician is able to sit in your child’s preschool class and observe their behavior in a classroom setting. A wide range of techniques are utilized used during this time, such as: play therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, art therapy, and family therapy.
